Nikon Camera Cases | Advices for Buying Nikon Camera Cases.

It is no wonder that digital photography has caught on in popularity. You can instantly review the pictures you took and delete the bad photos. In the old days, you would be wasting money developing pictures that turned out bad because you didn’t know it. This is no longer the case these days as there’s no film to develop. Sure you can go to your local picture developing shop and print off photos from the memory card but why would you? Instead of printing off a few copies of the same photo to send to family members, you can now just email them the photo instead. Talk about cost savings! And this leads to a saving of physical space as well. Where will you put all the thousands of pictures you took? You can save your digital photo album on CD/DVD discs and free up much needed space on your coffee table and book shelves.

With all these benefits of digital photography, you would think that digital camera costs would be high for beginners or that they would be complicated to operate. This is not the case at all as in order to bring digital photography to the masses, camera companies have lowered their cost drastically. Furthermore, with the technological advancements, a lot of the technical aspects of picture taking has been automated. You can now get very good beginner point and shoot digital cameras for very reasonable prices.

So what should people look for when they are shopping for a beginner digital camera? If you’re looking to take pictures of family and friends, then a digital camera with 2x or 3x optical zoom is quite sufficient. Also, look for other functionality in the digital camera as well. It is very common nowadays that digital cameras can also take short video clips. This is a wonderful feature to have in addition to static images.

Taking pictures and video is great but there is nothing worse when on a family outing than to run out of batteries or memory capacity. Get nickel metal hydride rechargeable batteries as they are great with devices that require lots of recharging. This will save lots of money with these batteries capable of recharging 1000s of times. For memory storage, get extra memory cards/sticks that are at least 1 GB in storage. The prices keep on dropping in memory cards/sticks as well with the advancements in technology.

The financial entry into digital photography is not that steep for a beginner photographer. The important thing to keep in mind is to know your needs and do the research accordingly.

There are multitudes of highly technologically challenging gadgets that we want today and are positive that we can not survive without. Our digital cameras, laptops, cell phones, and blackberries are cherished tools that we do not like to go anywhere unless we bring many of them with us. Truthfully, the beauty of all these tools is that you can take them with you wherever you go. With all the transporting around that they do, the possibility of them being stolen, lost, or damaged is a threat.

The majority of warranties on these high tech items do not cover some of these events. We could be really on our own as far as recovery or restoration. Some of these things might be salvaged if they are damaged by water. With a digital video camera or digital photo camera, saturating water damage might mean their certain death. There is a slim chance they may be fixed, but not much. Even the repair services that will try to repair digital cameras of all kinds that have been soaked with water will likely charge you a non refundable fee up front that might be fifty dollars or more and will not guarantee bringing it back to normal. With odds like that, you could be spending more money on it and still not have the digital camera restored the way it was.

The smartest thing to do is not get it wet in the first place. Precautions are not that complicated if you just use them from the beginning. First of all, you should not permit kids or pets near them. Almost anything kids or animals get close to can inadvertently get wet, by one means or another. Slobber is usually not fatal, except perhaps to digital cameras. Provided you are brave enough to bring your camera close to pools, bath tubs, hot tubs, spas, lakes, or any other body of water, for Pete’s sake put it in a waterproof case.

A sealed plastic bag can help, but not be enough. Tuck it in a sealed plastic bag or into a water proof container. Extra protection is defiantly not ridiculous, especially if you spent over $500.00 dollars for it. Even if you are not close to water, your camera is likely to be unusable if the viewing panel is broken, although this might be fixed. An airtight plastic container will help prevent it from being crushed as easily and protect it from liquids.

Water damage aside, digital things are very sensitive and the more precaution taken with them, the better. We never miss our new high tech devices so very much as when they die on us.

Tamron 28 75 Review

Did you know that Sigma and Tamron make lenses for Canon and Nikon cameras?

This Tamron 28-75 Review is a result of my love affair with third party providers. That lens is attached to my Canon 30D most of the time.

When a consumer is purchasing a digital SLR, there is an alternative to get it with a kit lens or just buy the body. At the time, the kit lens was not highly regarded at all by most photography websites.

The Tamron 28-75mm lens for Canon rose to the top of the heap as I did my research. This was based on several factors, not the least of which was my budget. Since buying that Tamron 28-75, is has served well. In fact it has remained the lens of choice even after upgrading the Canon digital SLR.

Since it is not a Canon L lens, it does not get the respect that those highly revered lenses get in all the reviews, however, this little Tamron lens is really excellent.

There are some great benefits that make this an excellent lens, but let me tell you about the two most compelling reasons that make this a first class lens choice for your Canon digital SLR.

Number one is the wide aperture of f/2.8. It is constant throughout the total focal range, meaning that it does not matter what focal length you opt for, you will be getting the fastest shutter speed. This is truly necessary when you are shooting in less than ideal light situations.

Next is the quick focus. I have used some Canon L lenses, and my Tamron works just as well as those high priced models. The bokeh is really nice too. If you are not acquainted with the term “bokeh”, it is the nicely blurred background of a photo. This happens when you shoot your picture at a fairly wide aperture (like 2.8). The plane of focus is quite shallow, rendering the background and foreground as blurry.

Just lately, I was talking with a photographer friend of mine who was doing some work at my school. He knows that I am also a photographer. As he was moving around and shooting his images, he mentioned that he had just bought this “impressive little lens” for his Canon 5D. He commented that he was so impressed with his new lens that he was recommending it to everyone he saw.

It turns out that he was speaking about a Tamron 28-75 Canon lens. I was pretty astonished that a pro photographer would even think to attach a third party lens to such an amazing camera as the 5D.

I truly should not have been that astonished. All things considered, I have been defining the benefits of this excellent lens for years. But I had normally thought of the Tamron 28-75 lens as a beginner Canon digital slr lens.

Needless to say that is not the case. It is a great alternative for amateurs and pros alike.

Think about it, you will be pleasantly amazed after shooting a few frames at how effectively the lens handles, the crisp, clear images that it yields, the quick focus, and the satisfying bokeh. Oh, and the cost. You will salvage a bundle of cash if you buy this lens instead of an L lens of the same focal length and aperture.

In this time and age where everything digital is all the hype, it is not surprising that digital cameras have become a staple accessory for people who go on vacation, for people who love to travel and for people who simply just want to take a snapshot here and there and capture that memorable moment wherever they may be.

In most cases, these digital devices are more and more exposed to the extreme conditions especially when their owners are but all excited to go click and click during their beach escapades where there is a healthy amount of sand, sun and salt water which can add to and even make haste your digital camera’s wear and tear process. But before you go frantic, here are a few helpful tips that can guide you in preserving and keeping your digital camera in its hale and hearty state.

First thing to consider is your digital camera’s protection. On the outside, you may want to get a durable and water-proof camera bag to safeguard your digital camera in. The bag has the purpose of storing your digital camera and also of sheltering it from the elements that may cause it to deteriorate faster than it should be.

Then you have the protective filters. Most of the digital cameras offered in the market today have UV filters with them but it is always best to check if your camera has them, if not then you better get yourself one. This additional layer of protection works to protect your lens from sand, salt, dust or any other matter and from scratches that it may get from being bumped or scraped. Looking within your digital camera, you should not forget to protect the insides as well. Lens, batteries and the memory card should be well shielded more particularly when you are in a beach or in a sandy or windy area where the sand and dust can easily get inside and could cause havoc inside your digital camera’s insides.

Remember what mom always taught you; keep your hands clean as much as possible. This stays true when you are handling your digital camera. Unclean hands with dirt and powder in them can very well transfer the former to your digital camera which may scratch its lens or get the dirt inside your digital camera’s system.

When you have been swimming in the beach, make sure to wash your hands with fresh water. Salt water is not at all friendly to digital cameras so make sure to cleanse those hands clean. Also remember to clean your camera after use. Simply get a clean soft cloth to wipe off any residue that it could have gathered when used during the day. Go for and spend on a good and quality digital camera cleaning kit which may include among others soft brushes and compressed air devices, and not just any cleaning product or cleanser. The latter may worsen your camera’s condition other than keep it in tiptop shape so beware.

What is all this about brands?

Caroline Andrade

It is rather amusing, how the youth in the city, are continuously making efforts to buy more and more clothes under foreign brands, even though marketers are faking some of the brands. Walking through any shopping mall or chic shopping precinct, makes one notice the happiness and smile on the faces of young citizens admiring, inspecting and buying brands like Levis, Canon, L.G and others.

Brand consciousness has become a weakness of the upcoming Indian youth. Today, the youth in India are willing to shell out enough money on the maintenance of a prolific lifestyle. They prefer to go for brands when it comes clothes, shoes, perfumes, eatables, accessories, gadgets and even lingerie. The sudden willingness to spend a bomb, only on brands has come as a result, of the increase in income of these generations owing to the occurrence of globalization.

The ‘Nielsen Global Luxury Brands Study’, has placed India, at the third position after Greece and Hong Kong. Interestingly, the study conducted by the global information entity Nielsen Company found out that regardless of the existence of imitated designer-branded goods, more than three-fourth of Indians do not believe that imitation products match up to the real one.

“I had once bought sunglasses that said, ‘Raybond,’ instead of Rayband and a Nike product with a tick pointing out towards the other side,” laughs Sharanya Ramprakash, a working professional for a management company called Fuller Life.

On a serious note she says,” Levis is something I always buy, when it comes to jeans and Reebok when it comes to sports gears, while in case of cameras, only the brand name Canon works for me, also work clothes it has to be Allen Solley. “

She adds, “Sometimes it’s not so much for the brand, I don’t care for it and like to pick up whatever I like, irrespective of how cheap or expensive it is.” “Like the Bangkok store here on Brigade, has some things which are exorbitantly priced and they are not even branded, yet I still like purchasing things from there.”

“Brands are just important for me when it comes to gadgets.” “I love photography, so I will be conscious about brands in cameras, but otherwise when it comes to clothes, I don’t really care,” she says.

Her friend, Nishita Vasant also from the same company, nodds her head for the same

Pointing out towards her friend she says, “We have fights, when it came to buying cameras. If I ever bought a Nikon camera, she will raise her eyebrows.”

However, she adds, “The recession is here, so anything can be bought, the brand name doesn’t matter at times.”

While some like Kusumb Nim, a Visual Merchandisor, with the Bombay Store says

“I am not brand conscious but I love brands. I love wearing jeans of Tommy and Pepe. I have a dream of having a collection of all brands in jeans.” She continues, “Whenever I see people buying fake brands from streets, I think I can never be like them and can never buy fake brands like them.”

The lady is quick at advising those who go for fake brands. Says she, “If you don’t have money, then you don’t wear branded stuff, but at least don’t make an attempt at showing off, by flaunting stuff that’s fake.”

She continues, “Even I buy chappals and T shirts from the streets, but whenever I buy T shirts from the streets, I make sure that they are plain and that there is no brand name written on it.”

Call it whatever, but the fact remains that the city’s janta is always game for the latest, trendiest and the hippest, whether the products are really they, is another matter. Brands are after all an extension of one’s personality. Issues of self-concept and social self-concept are involved here. It has therefore become very important for people who see themselves as being successful and having arrived. Feelings of being a global citizen and at par with other countries have become an important aspect of one’s life.

Editing Hd Vedio

Working with the video of camcorders such as, Sony HDR-HC1 can produce a serious business. HD video contains four times the number of pixels that standard definition offers, and it’s much more heavily compressed. Keep in mind that you need a powerful computer with a lot of memory to deal with the extra data and compression.

Pinnacle for example, recommends a minimum 512 MB of RAM and a graphics card with 128 MB of RAM for standard resolution video, although that goes up to a GB of RAM and a 256 MB graphics card when working with 1080i HD video. You can find plenty of software available that supports editing high definition videos. For example, the latest versions of Pinnacle Studio and Ulead Media Studio 8 can import and edit files in HDV format. Even though the high definition video with these types of looks great when played back on an HDTV, at the present time is there is no way store HD video on a DVD.

The only way you can store HD video for playback is on your PC or the same type of media you used in your HD camcorder. There is however, a new generation of high definition optical media format coming soon. Products that are based on the HD-DVD and Blu-ray disc formats are very expensive, and they will remain that way for the near future. HD-DVD players were announced a while back that they will cost $500 and up, and will be available very soon. You’ll also need one of the new HD-DVD drives to write to the disc, which will cost as much again. The same story with the Blu-ray disc, because both the recorders and the players are going to be expensive.

There is one other option as well. There is a DVD player from KISS, the DP-600, which can play back high definition files that have been compressed to Microsoft’s Windows Media 9 format. At least, this can provide a stop gap until the price of the HD-DVD and Blue-ray disc players and writes come down to an affordable price. The video you have through the camcorder itself can always play back the record, although you shouldn’t expect to be able to write it out on a disc with the current available equipment and preserve its quality. If you wait it out, the new generation of available media will be everything you need for your HD video.

The man behind the creations of Domke bags is Jim Domke. It all began when he thought of designing a shooter’s bag that will provide him easy access while on the run being a Philadelphia Inquirer staffer. He observed that most designs of bags are more like storage devices or carrying cases having much padding and bulk. For him, it is unnecessary and uncomfortable because it can take away speed, capacity, and utility. Thus he created a bag with necessary cushioning and has plenty of room. The design will enable him to get his equipments right away without taking off the bag from his shoulder. Jim Domke’s ideas were highly appreciated by his colleagues and other photographers. From then on, his genius experiment became a product line of intelligent bag designs and accessories being recognized by photojournalists around the world.

Domke bags use exceptional materials and innovative features. It provides good options for people to own one which suits their preference and style.

If you lean more on understated and traditional design then the canvass is perfect for you. The heavy weight canvass of cotton is all-natural, supple, soft, and smooth textured that will ideally suit your body. These materials are friendly on both clothing and equipment. The fabric is naturally resistant to water, however additional repellent treatment is incorporated on the dying process to give extra protection. You don’t have to worry because the fabric can still breathe staying dry even in the most humid surroundings. The models include F-1X Little Bit Bigger, F-2 Original, F-3X Super Compact, F-4AF Pro System, F-5XB Shoulder/Belt, F-6 Little Bit Smaller, and F-7 Double AF.

If you prefer a more high approach on technology, then the Ballistic Nylon is a sure bet. Its designs are super-tough and the fabrics are water-resistant. The texture is more pronounced compared to canvass featuring a beefy and weatherproof coating of urethane. It keeps its sheen and shape even after hard use because of its flexibility. The models include F-1XB Ballistic, F-2B Ballistic, F-3XB Ballistic, and F-6B Ballistic. These are made of 1050 Denier Ballistic Nylon and 200 Denier interiors of pack cloth.

The hardware found in Domke bags are tough and street tested. They use the strongest adjusters, buckles, clips, and rings. You can observe that most of their bags feature steel snaphooks that are bomb-proof. The steel rings are welded providing a closure that is pilfer-proof resembling a padlock. Another hardware composite element that they provide is the DuPont Delrin.

The Gripper Strap is non-slip keeping it steadily on your shoulder. High-friction rubbers are custom-weaved into the toughest and thickest webbing which also surrounds even the bottoms of the bag to provide maximum security and support.

Another exclusive creation of Domke is the Padded Insert System which protects and organizes your gears with less bulk and fuss. These are compartmentalized, interchangeable inserts that can enable you to custom-tailor Domke bags to fit any equipment combination or application. These are also complete inserts with self-contained component storage system which cannot be found on flat walls, floors, bridges, and hatches of other bags.

Topmost professional photographers rely on Domke when it comes to reliability and high quality camera bags. The “brand name” has already gained a reputation for being in the bag manufacturing business for more than thirty years now.  Domke bags as well its accessories have become the constant companions of photo enthusiasts whether they are trekking on city streets or tropical heats.

Finding Your Format

It’s very difficult to choose a camera without knowing which format best fits your needs. Below, you’ll find many of the most popular formats. DVCPRO HD Based on the standard definition of DVCPRO format, the DVCPRO HD from Panasonic uses a data rate of 120 MBps and intraframe compression, both of which will provide strong protection from generational loss.

The DVCPRO HD also has supporting cameras and decks that use FireWire I/O, which is a very important feature for keeping an eye on your bottom line. The cost of the equipment is a bit pricey, as it can cost upwards of 80,000$. HDCAM The HDCAM format from Sony is based on DigiBeta and can record in 24p, 25p, 50i, and even 60i. It uses a high data rate of 140MBps, which produces a great looking picture with few glitches. Because of the very unusual 17:6:6 color sampling scheme, the color detail is half of DVCPRO HD.

The picture is top of the line, proving to be among the best available on the market. HDV There is quite a bit of buzz surrounding HDV as the newcomer to the high definition marketplace. With high compression rates, HDV has enabled high quality shooting and editing with low cost tools, including the convenience of high definition video to Mini DV tape. This has also helped to open up the HD field to a wide variety of videographers and producers who would never have even considered going high definition otherwise.

The biggest drawback to going the HDV route is also the greatest strength – high compression. Both audio and video can suffer dramatically from too much compression. The audio in theory isn’t up to CD quality, although some users report that they are perfectly happy with it.

PDAaccessories.com are specialized in the following, Canon, Nikon, Sony, JVC, Gateway etc. Also have Camera Chargers, Camera Cases, Camera Batteries, and Camera Mounts.

Generally, adding a video to your presentation goes easy with a few clicks on Insert > Movies and Sounds > Movie from File (in PowerPoint 97-2003) or Insert > Movie > Movie from file… (in PowerPoint 2007). But the video may not play in your PPT presentation due to a wrong file format. You know, PowerPoint only recognizes 4 video file formats – ASF, AVI, MPEG and WMV.

So, when you are about to insert a flash video from YouTube or Google Video, or a recorded video from your digital camera or Web camera, or a portion of a DVD movie, you’d better check whether it is a compatible file format to PowerPoint.

Here is a list of how-tos for 6 different types of video to insert to a PowerPoint presentation.

Insert YouTube Video to PowerPoint

Sure, you can play a YouTube video directly in your presentation using the embedding method, i.e., simply copy and paste the embed code of the video page to the target slide. Note that you must have Internet connection to make the embedding method work.

In case YouTube is blocked on the target computer, you can download it to your local drive, convert to a supportable video format like AVI or WMV, and insert to your PowerPoint presentation. Because YouTube videos are in FLV, a file format that is not supported by PowerPoint.

Must-read:
Insert YouTube Videos to PowerPoint V.S. Put PowerPoint Presentations on YouTube

Similarly, you can also insert a web video downloaded from Google, Yahoo, MetaCafe, Veoh, etc, with a .flv extension like YouTube videos.

Insert DVD Movie to PowerPoint

You cannot put a DVD, or an audio or video portion of DVD, straight into any MS PowerPoint program. Coz DVD is not supported by PowerPoint.

You should use a quality DVD ripper to rip/crop the DVD movie and convert it to AVI or WMV for PowerPoint.

Must-read: Insert DVD Movie Clips to PowerPoint V.S. Burn PowerPoint Presentation to DVD

Insert Digital Camera Video to PowerPoint

If you want to use a funny video stored on your Canon or Nikon camera, you can copy and paste it to your PC. Save the camera video to AVI, and insert to your PowerPoint presentation.

Insert VHS/Analog Video to PowerPoint

For VHS or analog videos, you need to use a video capture app or device to convert them to digital ones. Then, save the converted videos as AVI or WMV and insert to your PowerPoint presentation.

Insert Web Camera Video to PowerPoint

You recorded a video clip with a web camera on your Dell. Now you would like to use it in a PowerPoint presentation. So, re-save the recorded video clip to AVI. Next, follow the Insert method mentioned at the first line to insert it to your PowerPoint presentation.

Insert QuickTime Movie to PowerPoint

Actually, an Apple QuickTime movie (.mov) file is not a supportable video format by PowerPoint. You cannot insert it directly to PowerPoint. You can hyperlink the QuickTime movie to PowerPoint, or convert the MOV file to AVI or WMV and insert to PowerPoint.

Must-read: How to Add a QuickTime Movie to PowerPoint Presentation?

IMPORTANT PLUS:
To keep your video-inclusive PowerPoint presentation work on a different computer, do not forget to place the source video file and your presentation in the same file folder. Copy the folder to a USB and paste it to the target computer. Sometimes, you need to insert the video again to your presentation.
